Connecting to Host Computer MM series can be used as an external hard disk of the computer with one of the following operation systems installed: • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition/ Microsoft Windows XP Professional (hereafter called Windows XP) • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (hereafter called Windows 2000) • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (hereafter called Windows Me) Before connecting the MM series to the host computer for the first time, be sure to install the connection cradle program (described later). Limitation You cannot use MM series as an external hard disk when it is powered on/ in the system standby or hibernate state. When the Host Computer is Windows XP Log on to the computer as a member of the Computer administrators group. You might not install application programs when you log on to the computer with a limited account. When the Host Computer is Windows 2000 or Windows Me Install an application program when you log on to the computer as a member of the 7 Computer administrators group. And Use the installed program when you log on to the computer as a member of the Computer administrators group. Installing Connection Cradle Program The following shows how to install the connection cradle program to the host computer. 1. Insert the product recovery CD-ROM disk2 in the CD drive of the host computer. 2. Double-Click My Computer , then double-click the CD drive icon. 3. Double-Click the SOFT folder, then double-click the MCX folder. The Connection Cradle Setup Wizard starts up. Follow the message on the screen and install the Connection Cradle program. 4. Install the program according to the instructions on the screen. 7-7
