XL-MP150 Troubleshooting chart (continued) Cassette deck Symptom Possible cause z Cannot record. z Is the erase-prevention tab removed? z Cannot record tracks with z Is it a normal tape? (You cannot proper sound quality. record on a metal or CrO tape.) z Cannot erase completely. z Sound skipping. z Is there any slack? z Is the tape stretched? z Cannot hear treble. z Sound fluctuation. z Are the capstans, pinch rollers, or heads dirty? z Cannot remove the tape. z If a power failure occurs during playback, the heads remain engaged with the tape. Do not open the compartment with great force. Tuner Symptom z The radio makes unusual noises continuously. Possible cause z Is the unit placed near the TV or computer? z Is the FM antenna or AM loop antenna placed properly? Move the antenna away from the AC power cord if it's located nearby. Condensation Sudden temperature changes, storage or operation in an extremely humid environment may cause condensation inside the cabinet (CD pickup, tape heads, etc.) or on the transmitter on the remote control. Condensation can cause the unit to malfunction. If this happens, leave the power on with no disc (or cassette) in the unit until normal playback is possible (about 1 hour). Wipe off any condensation on the transmitter with a soft cloth before operating the unit. References Remote control Symptom z The remote control does not operate.
