Shooting movies Using the zoom feature Move the power zoom lever a little for a slower zoom. Move it further for a faster zoom. Using the zoom sparingly results in better-looking recordings. W: For wide-angle (subject appears farther away) T : For telephoto (subject appears closer) Shooting movies/still images 1 cm (approx. 1/2 inch)* 80 cm (approx. 2 5/8 feet)* * The minimum distance required between your camcoder and the subject to get a sharp focus in that position of the lever. To use zoom greater than 10 × Zoom greater than 10 × is performed digitally. Digital zoom can be set to 20 × or 120 ×. The picture quality deteriorates as you move the power zoom lever towards the "T" side. To activate digital zoom, select the digital zoom power in (CAMERA SET) - [D ZOOM] in the SETUP display (page 112). The digital zoom is set to [OFF] as the default setting. The right side of the bar shows W T the digital zooming zone. The digital zooming zone appears when you select the digital zoom power in the SETUP display. Tip If you cannot get a sharp focus, move the power zoom lever to the "W" side until the focus is sharp. 33
