Troubleshooting Symptom Cause and/or Corrective Actions No function works even though the power is on. • Disconnect the power cord of the AC power adaptor or remove the battery, then reconnect it after about one minute. Turn the power on. If the functions still do not work, press the RESET button on the backside of your (recording) VCR using a sharp-pointed object. (If you press the RESET button, all the settings including the date and time return to the default.) The battery pack is quickly discharged. • The operating temperature is too low. • The battery pack is not fully charged. c Charge the battery pack fully again (p. 9-11). • The battery pack is completely dead, and cannot be recharged. c Replace with a new battery pack (p. 9). You cannot charge the battery pack. • The POWER switch is not set to OFF. c Set it to OFF. While charging the battery pack, the POWER ON/CHARGE lamp flashes. • Something is wrong with the battery pack. c Contact your Sony dealer or a local authorized Sony service facility. The melody or beep sounds for 5 seconds. • Moisture condensation has occurred. c Remove the cassette and leave your (recording) VCR for at least 1 hour to acclimatize (p. 67). • Some trouble has occurred in your (recording) VCR. c Remove the cassette and insert it again, then operate your (recording) VCR. While editing using the i.LINK cable (DV connecting cable), the recording picture cannot be monitored. • Remove the i.LINK cable (DV connecting cable), and connect it again. Digital program editing does not function. • The input selector on the other (playback) VCR is not set correctly. c Check the connection and set the input selector on the other (playback) VCR again (p. 35, 36). • Your (recording) VCR is connected to on Sony DV equipment, using the i.LINK cable (DV connecting cable). c Keep the connection, and follow the procedure on page 38 to 40. • Setting a program on a blank portion of the tape is attempted. c Set the program again on a recorded portion (p. 45). • Your (recording) VCR and the other (playback) VCR are not synchronized. c Adjust the synchronicity (p. 43).
