Choosing a focus mode Mode dial: (/S/A/M)*/SCN/ Multipoint AF When you use Multipoint AF, the camera calculates the distance in three places to the left and right and in the center of the image, letting you shoot using the auto focus function without worrying about the image composition. This is useful when it is difficult to focus on the subject because it is not in the center of the frame. The Multipoint AF is the factory setting. Focus range select mode (MVC-CD400 only) The Focus range select mode lets you select from the six AF range modes of Multipoint AF, Center, Right, Left, Top and Bottom. When you select the Center, Right, Left, Top and Bottom modes, the focus is adjusted automatically to the desired point within the AF range finder by AF operation. Center AF (MVC-CD250 only) You can focus automatically using the AF range finder frame in the center of the frame. * MVC-CD400 only • When you use digital zoom, the hologram AF or the AF illuminator, AF operates with priority on subjects in or near the center of the frame. Multipoint AF
When you use Multipoint AF, the camera
calculates the distance in three places to the
left and right and in the center of the image,
letting you shoot using the auto focus
function without worrying about the image
composition. This is useful when it is
difficult to focus on the subject because it is
not in the center of the frame.
