Network Walkman English Guide for using RealJukebox2 Basic for Sony This unit comes with two types of software for managing and playing audio files: "Sony OpenMG Jukebox Ver.2.2" and "RealJukebox2 Basic for Sony." You can transfer audio files from your computer to this player (or "MG Memory Stick") using either software. You can install either software or both, but you cannot use "OpenMG Jukebox" and "RealJukebox" simultaneously. There are several restrictions on usage of these software programs, so be sure to read the notes on this guide before using. • How to install and use Sony OpenMG Jukebox Ver.2.2 t For details, refer to the supplied "OpenMG Jukebox Operating Instructions." • How to install and use RealJukebox2 Basic for Sony t See the explanation described on the reverse side. For information on how to use this software, refer to the online Help of RealJukebox. Notes • Do not run "OpenMG Jukebox" and "RealJukebox" simultaneously. Otherwise, the audio files stored in your computer or this player (or "MG Memory Stick") may be corrupted and might not be played back correctly. • You cannot use "RealJukebox" to manage or play back audio files that you used "OpenMG Jukebox" to store in your computer; likewise, you cannot use "OpenMG Jukebox" to manage or play back audio files that you used "RealJukebox" to store in your computer. (Except for MP3 format audio files and WAV format audio files.) • You can use "RealJukebox" to play back audio files downloaded from an "OpenMG Jukebox" compatible EMD service site, but you cannot transfer such audio files to this player (or "MG Memory Stick"). If you want to transfer these files, we recommend using the OpenMG Jukebox software. • For customers using MG Memory Stick compatible devices RealJukebox does not support the "Move" function that can move audio files stored in the MG Memory Stick to your computer. If you delete these audio files using RealJukebox, they are completely erased. So be careful when you delete audio files. To manage audio files supporting the "Move" function, use OpenMG Jukebox. The installation window of OpenMG Jukebox appears. 2 Click to select [RealJukebox for Sony]. 3 Click the model name of your Network Walkman. You can select multiple model names. 4 Click [Install] and follow the displayed instructions. Note You need to install DirectX™ if you use Windows® 98GE. If it is not installed, you cannot connect the Sony portable player. Please visit the Microsoft® page at http://www.microsoft.com/directx/ for download. How to use RealJukebox2 Basic for Sony You can transfer audio files stored in the hard disk of your computer to this player (or "MG Memory Stick") using "RealJukebox". You can play back the transferred audio files on your Network Walkman. For details on how to play back the audio files, refer to the supplied Operating Instructions of your Network Walkman. You can play back audio files the same way as when you play back audio files transferred (checked-out) with "OpenMG Jukebox." 1 Install RealJukebox2 Basic for Sony according to the above instructions. 2 Record audio files from audio CDs, etc, and add them to the music library of RealJukebox. For information on how to record songs, refer to the online Help of RealJukebox. 3 Connect your Network Walkman to your computer. For information on how to connect the Network Walkman to your computer, refer to its Operating Instructions. 4 Select the track you want to transfer from the music library of RealJukebox. 5 Click [Copy To] and select [Device] from the menu. If multiple devices are displayed, select the portable player connected to your computer or [MagicGate Memory Stick]. 6 Click [Copy Files]. To return the files back from this player (or "MG Memory Stick") to your computer At any given time, a song can only be transferred up to three times to external device/ media. When you return the song back to your computer, the [Copies Remaining] count is updated to the previous state. To return the song back to computer, connect the device to your computer, select the track from the [Devices] window of RealJukebox, and delete the track using the [Delete] command. You can also delete the track by pressing the Del key. Note on using audio CDs with RealJukebox If your CD-ROM drive is connected via a PC card and removable from your computer, make sure that your CD-ROM drive is connected to your computer before starting RealJukebox. Do not remove or connect the CD-ROM drive while RealJukebox is running. Otherwise, serious malfunction may occur.

Notes

How to install RealJukebox2 Basic for Sony

Insert the supplied OpenMG Jukebox installation CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
The installation window of OpenMG Jukebox appears.

Click to select [RealJukebox for Sony].

Click the model name of your Network Walkman.
You can select multiple model names.

Click [Install] and follow the displayed instructions.
Note
You need to install DirectX™ if you use Windows
®
98GE. If it is not installed, you
cannot connect the Sony portable player. Please visit the Microsoft

How to use RealJukebox2 Basic for Sony
You can transfer audio files stored in the hard disk of your computer to this player (or
“MG Memory Stick”) using “RealJukebox”.
You can play back the transferred audio files on your Network Walkman.
For details on how to play back the audio files, refer to the supplied Operating Instructions
of your Network Walkman. You can play back audio files the same way as when you play
back audio files transferred (checked-out) with “OpenMG Jukebox.”

Install RealJukebox2 Basic for Sony according to the above instructions.

Record audio files from audio CDs, etc, and add them to the music library of
RealJukebox. For information on how to record songs, refer to the online Help of
RealJukebox.

Connect your Network Walkman to your computer. For information on how to connect
the Network Walkman to your computer, refer to its Operating Instructions.

Select the track you want to transfer from the music library of RealJukebox.

Click [Copy To] and select [Device] from the menu. If multiple devices are displayed,
select the portable player connected to your computer or [MagicGate Memory Stick].

Click [Copy Files].
To return the files back from this player (or “MG Memory Stick”) to your
computer
At any given time, a song can only be transferred up to three times to external device/
media. When you return the song back to your computer, the [Copies Remaining] count is
updated to the previous state.
To return the song back to computer, connect the device to your computer, select the track
from the [Devices] window of RealJukebox, and delete the track using the [Delete]
command. You can also delete the track by pressing the Del key.
Note on using audio CDs with RealJukebox
If your CD-ROM drive is connected via a PC card and removable from your computer,
make sure that your CD-ROM drive is connected to your computer before starting
RealJukebox.
Do not remove or connect the CD-ROM drive while RealJukebox is running. Otherwise,
serious malfunction may occur.
