Connecting the Telephone and Modem Cables Connecting the Telephone and Modem Cables Your supplied accessories may include a ferrite core. The ferrite core is designed to reduce or eliminate electrical interference when a telephone is connected to your computer. 1 Unplug your telephone's cable from the wall jack. 2 Open the supplied ferrite core and place the ferrite core approximately 3-4 inches from the end of the telephone cable. 3 Wrap the telephone cable twice around the ferrite core, lengthwise, with the cable running directly through the center groove of the core. 4 Close the ferrite core tightly around the telephone cable until it locks.
