7 - Application Guide In this chapter, we explain how to set some audio applications for use with this unit. DAW software Bundled DAW software Download quickstart guides for the bundled DAW software from the TEAC Global Site (http://teac-global.com/), and refer to them for instructions about downloading, installing and making settings in these applications. Other DAW software When using any other DAW software, consult its operation manual. Windows Media Player 1. Open the OS Control Panel. NOTE Follow these procedures to open the Control Panel. Windows 10/Windows 8.1 Right-click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel. Windows 7 Left-click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel from the Start menu. 2. Double-click Sound in the Control Panel to open it. NOTE If the Control Panel display method is set to Icon, a Sound icon will be shown. 3. On the "Playback" page, right-click "US-2x2 (or US-4x4)" or "Mixing Driver 1 for US-2x2 & US-4x4", and click "Set as Default Device" in the pop-up menu that appears. When you do this, the green check mark ("4") appears next to the selected device. Windows 8.1 screen NOTE To use the unit as a recording device, set the default device according to the ASIO device being used on the Recording tab in the same manner as on the Playback tab. 4. After completing the setting, click the "OK" button. 5. Launch Windows Media Player, select an audio file and start playback. NOTE • If you change the setting while Windows Media Player is running, the software will not recognize that the device has been changed. In this case, restart Windows Media Player. • If you still cannot hear sound after making the settings and completing the procedures above, restart the computer. • If you make this setting, sound will be output through this unit, but no sound will be output from the computer's speakers or headphone jack. 18 TASCAM US-2x2/US-4x4
