The screen will display "1/2 MUTE" or "MUTE" in the lower right corner. Each time MUTE is pressed, the mute mode changes in the following order: → 1/2 MUTE → MUTE → Normal When the TV is muted, the closed caption feature (page 41) is automatically activated (but only if the closed caption mode is set to OFF). To turn off captions, press MUTE again. MENU yzx • Selecting stereo/SAP broadcasts The multi-channel TV sound (MTS) feature allows you to listen to high-fidelity stereo sound while watching your TV. MTS can also transmit a second audio program (SAP) containing a second language, music, or other audio information (if available in your area). When the TV receives a stereo or SAP broadcast, the word STEREO or SAP appears on-screen every time the TV is turned on, the channel is changed, or RECALL is pressed. Note: The MTS feature is not available when the TV is in VIDEO or ColorStream mode. To listen to stereo sound: 1. If the stereo sound is noisy, select MONO to reduce the noise. The word STEREO or SAP is displayed in yellow in the menu when the TV receives the signal. To listen to SAP (if available): 1. Press MENU, and then press x or • until the AUDIO menu appears. 2. Press y or z to highlight MTS. 3. Press x or • to highlight SAP. You will hear the station's second audio program (if available) from the speakers, while viewing the program's normal picture (see note at right). MUTE RECALL Note: A second audio program (SAP) can be heard only on those TV stations that offer it. If you have SAP on, and the station the TV is currently tuned to is in SAP mode but is not currently playing a second audio program, you will see the picture but may not hear sound. Muting the sound
Press MUTE to temporarily dim the sound (1/2 mute) or turn off the
sound (mute). The screen will display
1/2 MUTE

in
the lower right corner. Each time MUTE is pressed, the mute mode
