Appendix C V.90/V.92 The TOSHIBA internal modem uses V.90 technology. The modem is capable of downstream speeds of 56Kbps (kilobits per second) when connected to an Internet service provider that supports V.90/V.92. As with any modem, the actual throughput (speed of data transfer) depends on analog telephone line conditions, which can vary considerably. Therefore, many users will experience throughput in the range of 32-44Kbps under normal telephone line conditions. Upstream data flows at the V.34 rate. V.90 rates can be achieved only when one V.90 capable modem is connected to another. The TOSHIBA Internal modem will select automatically V.34 if the remote modem lacks V.90 capability or if a combination of network and/or phone line conditions prevent V.90 connection. V.90/V.92
The TOSHIBA internal modem uses V.90 technology. The modem is
capable of downstream speeds of 56Kbps (kilobits per second) when
connected to an Internet service provider that supports V.90/V.92. As with
any modem, the actual throughput (speed of data transfer) depends on
analog telephone line conditions, which can vary considerably. Therefore,
many users will experience throughput in the range of 32-44Kbps under
normal telephone line conditions. Upstream data flows at the V.34 rate.
V.90/V.92 mode
V.90 rates can be achieved only when one V.90 capable modem is
connected to another. The TOSHIBA Internal modem will select
automatically V.34 if the remote modem lacks V.90 capability or if a
combination of network and/or phone line conditions prevent V.90
connection.
