Getting Started Selecting a place to work 41 If you experience discomfort while operating the computer, stop immediately and rest. Continuous operation for long periods without adequate rest may cause pain in the arms, wrists, hands, neck, or other part of the body. If pain persists despite rest, consult your doctor. The PC base and palm rest can become hot! Avoid prolonged contact to prevent heat injury to skin. Read the enclosed Instruction Manual for Safety and Comfort. Some PC Cards can become hot with prolonged use. Overheating of a PC Card can result in errors or instability in its operation. Before you remove a PC Card, always wait for it to cool. You could get burned removing a hot PC Card. Never place a heavy object on the computer and be careful not to drop a heavy object onto the computer. It could damage the computer or cause system failure. ❖ Never turn off the computer if a drive light indicates a drive is active. Turning off the computer while it is reading from or writing to a disk may damage the disk, the drive, or both. ❖ Keep the computer and disks away from objects that generate strong magnetic fields, such as large stereo speakers.
