2.1 Troubleshooting 2 Troubleshooting Procedures 2 2.1 Troubleshooting Chapter 2 describes how to determine which Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) in the computer is causing the computer to malfunction. (The "FRU" means the replaceable unit in the field.) The FRUs covered are: 1. Power supply 2. System Board 3. USB FDD 4. Hard Disk Drive 5. Keyboard 6. Touch pad 7. Display 8. Optical Disk Drive 9. Modem 10. LAN 11. Wireless LAN 12. Bluetooth 13. Sound 14. 3G 15. SD Card Slot 16. Fingerprint Sensor 17. Web camerta 18. Intel Turbo Memory The Test Program operations are described in Chapter 3. Detailed replacement procedures are described in Chapter 4. NOTE: Before replacing the system board, it is necessary to execute the subtest 03 DMI Information save of the 3.4 Setting of the hardware configuration in Chapter 3. After replacing the system board, it is necessary to execute the subtest 04 DMI Information recovery and subtest 08 System configuration display of the 3.4 Setting of the hardware configuration in Chapter 3. Also update with the latest EC/KBC as described in Appendix H "EC/KBC Rewrite Procedures". After replacing the LCD, update with the latest EC/KBC as described in Appendix H "EC/KBC Rewrite Procedures" to set the SVP parameter. The implement for the Diagnostics procedures is referred to Chapter 3. Also, following implements are necessary: 1. Phillips screwdrivers (For replacement procedures) 2.
