Basic playback Variable Speed Playback You can play discs at various speeds, and resume playback from the location where you stopped playback. FWD REV PLAY PAUSE/STEP PAUSE/STEP SKIP ( / ) PLAY DVD-V DVD-A VCD CD Playing in fast reverse or fast forward directions Press REV or FWD on the remote control during playback. SLOW REV: Fast reverse playback REV FWD: Fast forward playback SLOW Each time you press the REV or FWD FWD button, the playback speed changes. Press and hold SKIP ( / ) on the main unit during playback. To resume normal playback Press PLAY. PLAY Notes • The player mutes sound and omits subtitles during reverse and forward scan of DVD video discs. • DVD audio discs may not be played in fast reverse or fast forward directions. • The playback speed may differ depending on the disc. SKIP Fast forward playback Fast reverse playback During the fast forward or fast reverse playback, you can vary the speed by pressing the button repeatedly. DVD-V DVD-A VCD CD Playing frame by frame Press PAUSE/STEP during still playback. PAUSE/STEP Each time you press the PAUSE/ STEP button, the picture advances one frame. To resume normal playback Press PLAY. PLAY Notes • The sound is muted during frame by frame playback. • When using a DVD audio disc that includes pictures, this operation may be permitted in some picture segments. 25
