If necessary, moisten the cloth with water or a neutral cleaner (not benzine or rubbing alcohol). Let the disc dry completely before inserting it in the drive. Setting up for communications To communicate across the telephone lines with another computer, you need: ❖ The computer's modem ❖ A telephone line ❖ An Internet Service Provider (ISP) To connect to the Internet, you need a Web browser, such as Microsoft® Internet Explorer. TECHNICAL NOTE: Disable Call Waiting before you connect through the modem. Call Waiting interrupts data transmission. Connecting the modem to a phone line Your Satellite 1100 computer comes with a built-in modem. To use the modem, you must connect it to a standard voicegrade RJ11 telephone line. 1 Attach one end of a standard RJ11 telephone cable to the modem port. To locate the modem port, see "Back" on page 25. 2 Plug the other end of the RJ11 telephone cable into the modular jack of a standard voice-grade telephone line.
