Learning the Basics 81 Using the modem To clean a disc, wipe it from the center outwards (not in a circle) with a clean, dry cloth. If necessary, moisten the cloth with water or a neutral cleaner (not benzine or rubbing alcohol). Let the disc dry completely before inserting it in the drive. Using the modem The Satellite 2800/2805 Series computers come with a built-in V.90 56K fax/modem and a built-in 10/100 Ethernet LAN connection. To use the modem, you must connect it to a standard voice-grade RJ11 telephone line. TECHNICAL NOTE: Disable Call Waiting before you connect through the modem. Call Waiting interrupts data transmission. 1 Attach one end of a standard RJ11 telephone cable to the modem port. Connecting the internal modem 2 Plug the other end of the RJ11 telephone cable into the modular jack of a standard voice-grade telephone line. Part I: Getting to Know Your Computer
