123 Mobile Computing Running the computer on battery power NOTE For optimum DVD performance, Toshiba recommends that you play DVDs while running on AC power rather than on battery power. Battery life is less than when using similar applications in the Windows operating system. NOTE Over a period of time, and depending on the usage of the computer, the brightness of the LCD Screen will deteriorate. This is an intrinsic characteristic of LCD technology. Screen will dim when the computer is operated on battery power and you may not be able to increase the brightness of the screen. TECHNICAL NOTE: The RTC battery does not charge while the computer is turned off, even when AC power is attached. Charging the main battery To charge the main battery while it is in your computer, plug the computer into a live electrical outlet. The battery charges whether the computer is on or off. TECHNICAL NOTE: When your computer is using all of the power provided by the AC Adaptor to run applications, features, and devices, the recharging of the battery can not occur. Your computer's Power Saver utility can be used to select a power level setting that reduces the power required for system operation and will allow the battery to recharge.
