Troubleshooting When you have this problem... A cordless handset says Unavailable. The phone keeps ringing when I answer on an extension. During power failure, can't make or receive a call. No stations will display any Caller ID information. Caller ID displays briefly and then clears. I can't register a cordless handset at the base. A cordless handset doesn't communicate with other handsets. I can't transfer calls. Try... • Moving the handset closer to the base. • Seeing if another station has Privacy Mode turned on (see page 40). • Making sure the base is plugged in (see page 9). • You may have to change the line mode. Contact customer service for more information (see page 61). • Making sure to use the base corded handset to make or receive a call (see page 30). • Checking the telephone cord connection (see page 10). • Checking to see if the call was placed through a switchboard. • Asking your telephone company to verify your Caller ID service is current. There may be a problem with your Caller ID service. • Letting incoming calls ring at least twice before answering. • You may have to change the line mode.
