Symptom The Caller ID does not display. You cannot register the handset at the base. The handset doesn't communicate with other handsets. An extra handset can't join the conversation. The Room Monitor feature does not work. The answering machine does not work. Messages are incomplete. There is no sound on the base or handset speaker during call monitoring or message playback. Suggestion • The call was placed through a switchboard. • Call your telephone provider to verify your Caller ID service is current. There may be a problem with your Caller ID service. • Charge the battery pack in the handset for 15-20 hours. • Change the Digital Security Code (see page 70). • Make sure you have not stored 10 handsets already. • Change the Digital Security Code (see page 70). • Make sure that you have registered all handsets. • Make sure there are not 2 handsets already using the conference feature. • Make sure that another station is not in privacy mode. • Make sure to place the handset(s) within the range of the base. • Make sure that the Room Monitor feature is turned on. • Make sure the base is plugged in. • Make sure that the answering machine is turned on. • Make sure that the message record time is not set to Announce only (see page 55). • The incoming messages may be too long. Remind callers to leave a brief message.· • The memory may be full. Delete some or all of the saved messages. • Adjust the speaker volume on the base or handset. • Make sure the call screen feature is set to on. 72
