4.3 Advanced Picture Adjust VIZIO GV42L HDTV User Manual When the MENU button is pressed, the On Screen Display (OSD) appears on the PICTURE ADJUST page. Press the button to highlight the Advanced Picture Adjust selection and press OK. A new menu is displayed showing the Advanced Picture Adjustments available on the GV42L HDTV. 4.3.1 DNR Digital Noise Reduction is used to reduce the appearance of digitizing errors caused by the compression process used to encode the program into MPEG-2 for transmission to your home. This is also referred to as MPEG Noise Reduction. Press the button to choose from OFF, LOW, MIDDLE or STRONG. 4.3.2 Black Level Extender Extends the ability of the HDTV to reproduce some detail that may be lost in the black areas of the picture. Press the button to turn this feature OFF or ON. 4.3.3 White Peak Limiter Extends the ability of the HDTV to reproduce some detail that may be lost in the white areas of the picture. Press the button to turn this feature OFF or ON. 4.3.4 Color Transient Intensity The GV42L automatically adjusts the picture for color errors caused by fast changing scenes and this selection allows you to set the amount of adjustment applied, to suite your taste. Press the button to choose from OFF, LOW, MIDDLE or STRONG. 4.3.5 Flesh Tone If you feel that your GV42L is not reproducing flesh colors correctly, even after adjusting for the correct amount of color, section 4.2.5 on page 42, you are able to make a fine adjustment using this feature. Press the button to turn this feature On or OFF. 4.3.6 Adaptive Luma For some programs there may be perceived some transient changes in the luminance of the picture and the Adaptive Luma feature may reduce this effect. Press the button to turn this feature On or OFF. 4.3.7 Dynamic Contrast For some programs there may be perceived some transient changes in the contrast of the picture and the Dynamic Contrast feature may reduce this effect. Advanced Picture Adjust
When the MENU button is pressed, the On Screen
Display (OSD) appears on the PICTURE ADJUST
page.
Press the
button to highlight the
Advanced Picture Adjust selection and press OK.
A new menu is displayed showing the Advanced
Picture Adjustments available on the GV42L HDTV.
4.3.1
DNR
Digital Noise Reduction is used to reduce the appearance of digitizing errors caused by the compression

choose from OFF, LOW, MIDDLE or STRONG.

Flesh Tone
If you feel that your GV42L is not reproducing flesh colors correctly, even after adjusting for the correct
amount of color, section 4.2.5 on page 42, you are able to make a fine adjustment using this feature.

Adaptive Luma
For some programs there may be perceived some transient changes in the luminance of the picture and
the Adaptive Luma feature may reduce this effect.
Press the
button to turn this feature On or OFF.

Dynamic Contrast
For some programs there may be perceived some transient changes in the contrast of the picture and the
Dynamic Contrast feature may reduce this effect.
