The port on the My Book 3.0 is designed for this connector. You can also use a USB 2.0 cable with the My Book 3.0, but the drive will only operate at USB 2.0 speeds. The connector at the other end of the cable connects to your computer's USB 3.0 port (if available, e.g., from the PCIe adapter) or any available USB 2.0 port. USB 3.0 Micro-B Cable
The USB 3.0 Micro-B connector is basically a USB 2.0 Micro-B connector with an extension
holding 5 extra pins. The port on the My Book 3.0 is designed for this connector. You can
also use a USB 2.0 cable with the My Book 3.0, but the drive will only operate at USB 2.0
speeds.
The connector at the other end of the cable connects to your computer’s USB 3.0 port (if
available, e.g., from the PCIe adapter) or any available USB 2.0 port.
