Chapter 5 Glossary SMF Abbreviation for Standard MIDI File. SMF Song Format A song file format supported by MIDI sequencers and music software. Song Normally, a short piece of music with lyrics. However, for clarity in Disklavier manuals, the term is used to refer to any piece of music of any genre. Standard MIDI File A file of MIDI data that can be read and used by a number of different MIDI devices and computers. USB An interface for connecting an external "plug and play" device.
