BASIC OPERATION 2 Press Gl / h to adjust the effect level while "NIGHT:CINEMA" or "NIGHT:MUSIC" is displayed in the front panel display. Choices: MIN, MID, MAX • Select "MIN" for minimum compression. • Select "MID" for standard compression. • Select "MAX" for maximum compression. y "NIGHT:CINEMA" and "NIGHT:MUSIC" adjustments are stored independently. Notes • You cannot use the night listening modes in the following cases: - when the component connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks is selected as the input source. - when headphones are connected to the PHONES jack. • The night listening modes may vary in effectiveness depending on the input source and surround sound settings you use. ■ Selecting audio input jacks (AUDIO SELECT) This unit comes with a variety of input jacks. Use this feature (audio input jack select) to switch the input jack assigned to an input source when more than one jacks are assigned to an input source. y • We recommend setting audio input jack select to "AUTO" in most cases. • You can adjust the default audio input jack select of this unit by using "AUDIO SELECT" in "OPTION MENU" (see page 45). Press EAUDIO SELECT (or BAUDIO SEL) repeatedly to select the desired Audio input jack select setting. DVR V-AUX DTV/CBL DVD MD/CD-R TUNER CD A.SEL: AUTO Audio input jack select setting AUTO ANALOG Automatically selects input signals in the following order: (1) Digital signals (2) Analog signals Selects only analog signals. If no analog signals are input, no sound is output. Note This feature is not available when no digital input jack are assigned to the currently selected input source. Playback ■ Adjusting the tonal quality Use this feature to adjust the balance of bass and treble for the front left and right speaker channels. Press 0TONE CONTROL repeatedly to select "BASS" or "TREBLE" and then press APROGRAM l / h to adjust the corresponding frequency response level. • Select "BASS" to adjust the low-frequency response. • Select "TREBLE" to adjust the high-frequency response. Notes • Speaker and headphone adjustments are stored independently. • If you increase or decrease the high-frequency or low-frequency sound to an extreme level, the tonal quality of the surround speakers may not match that of the front left and right speakers. ■ Adjusting speaker levels during playback You can adjust the output level of each speaker while listening to a music source. Note This operation will override the level adjustment made in "SP LEVEL" (see page 41). 1 Press DAMP and then press FLEVEL repeatedly to select the speaker you want to adjust. Display Adjusted speaker FRONT L Front left speaker FRONT R Front right speaker CENTER Center speaker SWFR Subwoofer SUR.L Surround left speaker SUR.R Surround right speaker y Once you press FLEVEL on the remote control, you can also select the speaker by pressing Gk / n. 2 Press Gl / h on the remote control to adjust the speaker output level. The control range is from -10 dB to +10 dB. y You can press 4A/B/C/D/E to select a speaker and then 5PRESET/TUNING l / h to adjust the speaker output level. English 29 En
