TROUBLESHOOTING Problem The DVD receiver does not operate properly. A digital equipment or high-frequency equipment produces noises. Sound played on the DVD receiver cannot be recorded with an external recorder. The clock setting has been cleared. Cause The DVD receiver may receive a strong electrical shock, such as from a lightening bolt or excessive static electricity, or drop in power supply. The DVD receiver may be placed close to the digital equipment or high-frequency equipment. You may be trying to make a digital recording with an analog source. The power to the DVD receiver may be lost more than a week. Solution Set the DVD receiver to the Standby mode, then disconnect the power cable. Wait for about 30 seconds, then connect the power cable and turn on the DVD receiver. Place the DVD receiver further away from such equipment. Use proper audio sources. Make sure the power cable is plugged into outlet firmly, then set the clock again (page 16). Remote control Problem The remote control does not work for operating the DVD receiver. The remote control does not work for operating TV. Cause The remote control may be operated outside the remote control operation range. The remote control sensor on the DVD receiver may be exposed to direct sunlight or lighting (inverted fluorescent lamps). The remote control mode selection may be improper. The batteries may be worn out. The remote control code may be incorrect. Solution For information on the remote control operation range, refer to "USING THE REMOTE CONTROL" (page 13). Change the lighting or DVD receiver's orientation. Select the mode that suits your purpose (page 5). Replace the batteries with new ones. (page 13). Set the correct remote control code (page 41). Depending on the model and year of the product, the remote control may not be able to operate it partly or wholly. In this case, use the remote control supplied for the product. 44
