Connecting speakers and subwoofer Connect your speakers to their respective terminals on the rear panel. CAUTION • Remove the AC power cable of this unit from the power outlet before connecting the speakers. • Generally speaker cables consist of two parallel insulated cables. One of these cables is a different color, or has a line running along it, to indicate different polarity. Insert the different colored (or lined) cable into the "+" (positive, red) terminal on this unit and the speakers, and the other cable into the "-" (negative, black) terminal. • Be careful that the core of the speaker cable does not touch anything or come into contact with the metal areas of this unit. This may damage this unit or the speakers. If the speaker cables short circuit, "CHECK SP WIRES!" will appear on the front panel display when this unit is switched on. For a 6.1-channel system, connect the external amplifier to the SURROUND BACK L jack of the PRE OUT terminals. For a 7.1-channel system connect it to the SURROUND BACK L/R jacks. SINGLE SURROUND BACK SUBWOOFER PRE OUT Surround back speaker R L You can adjust the surround back speaker volume with a volume control of the external amplifier. To obtain the balanced sound during playback, set the speaker output characteristics in advance using the YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer) or "Speaker Setup" of the Setup menu (☞p. 23). Connecting speakers and subwoofer
Connect your speakers to their respective terminals on the rear panel.
Connecting the surround back speakers
Connecting an external amplifier to the SURROUND BACK L/R jacks of the PRE OUT terminals
allows you to create the maximum of 7.1-channel surround system with a surround back channel.
For a 6.1-channel system, connect the external amplifier to the SURROUND BACK L jack of the PRE
OUT terminals.
For a 7.1-channel system connect it to the SURROUND BACK L/R jacks.
You can adjust the surround back speaker volume with a volume control of the external amplifier. To
obtain the balanced sound during playback, set the speaker output characteristics in advance using the
YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer) or “Speaker Setup” of the Setup menu
