Ensure the shift lever fully in PARK (P) range before is starting the engine. Your Cadillac has a brake-transaxle shift interlock. You have to fullyapply your regular brakes before you can shift fromPARK (P) when the ignition key is in the RUN position. If you cannot ease pressure the shift on shift outof PARK (P), all lever -- push the shift lever the way into PARK (P) and release the shift lever button the floor shift on console models as maintain brake application.
