Braking in Emergencies Use your anti-lock braking system when you need to. With anti-lock, you can steer and brake at the same time. In many emergencies, steering can helpyou more than even the very best braking. Speed Sensitive Steering (SSS) (Eldorado Only) This system varies the amountof steering effort proportionate to your vehicle speed. Steering is easier at a lower speed for maneuvering and parking ease.As your vehicle speed increases,the steering effort also increases. At highway speeds,the amount of steering effort is increased to provide manual-like steering for maximum control and stability. Steering Power Stewing If you lose power steering assist because the engine stops or the system is notfunctioning, you can steer but it will take much more effort. Steering Tips Driving on Curves It's important to take curves at a reasonable speed. A lot of the "driver lost control" accidents mentioned on the news happen on curves. Here's why: MAGNASTEER * (ETC Only) Your vehicle may be equipped with GM MAGNASTEER, a system that continuously adjusts the effort you feel when steering at all vehicle speeds. provides ease when It parking yet a firm, solid feel at highway speeds.
