If No Steam Is Coming FromYour Engine If you get the overheat warning but see or hear no steam, the problem may not be too serious. Sometimes the engine can a little too hot when you: get Climb a long hill on a hot day. Stop after high-speed driving. Idle for long periods in traffic. Tow a trailer. If you get the overheat warning with sign of steam, no try thisfor a minute or so: 1. T r off your air conditioner. un 2. Dial temperature control to the highest heat setting and open the window, as necessary. If you no longer have me overheat warning, you can for drive. Just to be safe, drive slower about 10 minutes. If the warning doesn't come back you can drive on, normally. If the warning continues, pull over, stop and park your vehicle right away. If there's still no signof steam, you can idlethe engine you're parked, tosee if for two or three minutes while if the warning stops. But then, you still have the of warning, turn o f t h e engine and get everyone out the vehicle until it cools down.
