PCI Express card removal and installation The system has two preinstalled riser cards (one card for each node) designed specifically for use in the 2U rackmount chassis. Each riser card supports full-height, full-length PCI Express x8 cards. Perform the following steps to install an add-on card: Installing a PCI Express card 1. Remove the server node (see "Replacing a server node" on page 41). 2. Remove the expansion slot shield. a. Remove the one screw ( ) from the expansion slot shield lock. b. Slide the shield lock ( ) in the direction shown below. c. Remove the expansion slot shield ( ) from the slot bracket. 3. Insert the add-on card. NOTE: Remove the expansion card from its protective packaging, handling it by the edges. a. Align the add-on card shield ( ) with the slot bracket. b. Insert the add-on card ( ) into the expansion slot. c. Slide back ( ) the shield lock and secure with the one screw ( ) removed earlier. 4. Connect the appropriate cables to the card. 42 Chapter 7
