Parameter Third Boot Device Boot Up NumLock Status Gate A20 Option APIC Mode ASF support Description Options This parameter allows you to specify the system boot up search sequence. Floppy, LS120, Hard Disk, CDROM, ZIP100, LAN (on board LAN-- Boot from LAN), Disabled Sets the NumLock status when the system is On powered on. Setting to On will turn on the NumLock Off key when the system is powered on. Setting to Off will allows users to use the arrow keys on the numeric keypad. This item is to set the Gate A20 status. A20 refers to the first 64KB of extended memory. When the default value Fast is selected, the Gate A20 is controlled by port 92 or chipset specific method resulting in faster system performance. When Normal is selected, A20 is controlled by a keyboard controller or chipset hardware. Fast Normal This field is used to enable or disable the APIC (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller). Due to compliance with PC2001 design guide, the system is able to run in APIC mode. Enabling APIC mode will expand available IRQ resources from the system. Enabled Disabled Disable will NOT support ASF functionality for ASF- Disabled capable LOM and add-in PCI LAN adapters. Enabled 35 Chapter 2
