2.1.4 ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2 utility The ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2 is an auto recovery tool that allows you to restore the BIOS file when it fails or gets corrupted during the updating process. You can update a corrupted BIOS file using the motherboard support CD, or the floppy disk that contains the updated BIOS file. • Prepare the motherboard support CD, or the floppy disk containing the updated motherboard BIOS before using this utility. • Make sure that you rename the original or updated BIOS file in the floppy disk to P5GZMX.ROM. Recovering the BIOS from a floppy disk To recover the BIOS from a floppy disk: 1. 2. 3. Turn on the system. Insert the floppy disk with the original or updated BIOS file to the floppy disk drive. The utility displays the following message and automatically checks the floppy disk for the original or updated BIOS file. Bad BIOS checksum. Starting BIOS recovery...Checking for floppy... If your display monitor is connected to the onboard VGA connector, the display monitor will turn-off and the system will beep once while the CrashFree BIOS 2 starts updating your system. The system will beep once again while the process is finished, and the display will return after the system restarts. When found, the utility reads the BIOS file and starts flashing the corrupted BIOS file. Bad BIOS checksum. Starting BIOS recovery...Checking for floppy...Floppy found! Reading file "P5GZMX.ROM". Completed. Start flashing... DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS! Doing so can cause system boot failure! 4. ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2 utility
The ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2 is an auto recovery tool that allows you to
restore the BIOS fle when it ²ails or gets corrupted during the updating
process. You can update a corrupted BIOS fle using the motherboard
support CD, or the Foppy disk that contains the updated BIOS fle.
Prepare the motherboard support CD, or the Foppy disk containing
the updated motherboard BIOS before using this utility.
Make sure that you rename the original or updated BIOS fle in the
Foppy disk to
P5GZMX.ROM.
Recovering the BIOS from a floppy disk
To recover the BIOS ²rom a Foppy disk:
1.
Turn on the system.
2.
Insert the Foppy disk with the original or updated BIOS fle to the
Foppy disk drive.
3.
The utility displays the following message and automatically checks
the Foppy disk ²or the original or updated BIOS fle.
Bad BIOS checksum. Starting BIOS recovery...
Checking for ²oppy...
4.
Restart the system after the utility completes the updating process.
Bad BIOS checksum. Starting BIOS recovery...
Checking for ²oppy...
±loppy found!

Start ²ashing...
When ²ound, the utility reads the BIOS fle and starts Fashing the
corrupted BIOS fle.
DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS! Doing
so can cause system boot failure!
If your display monitor is connected to the onboard VGA connector, the
display monitor will turn-off and the system will beep once while the
CrashFree BIOS 2 starts updating your system. The system will beep
once again while the process is fnished, and the display will return a²ter
