2.6 Expansion slot 2.6.1 Installing an expansion card to the riser card bracket The barebone server comes with a riser card bracket. You need to remove the bracket if you want to install PCI Express x16 expansion cards. To install the PCI Express x16 expansion cards: 1. Firmly hold the riser card bracket, then pull it up to detach it from the PCI Express x16 slot on the motherboard. 2. Place the riser card bracket on a flat and stable surface, then remove the screw from the slot bay. 3. U s e a P h i l l i p s ( c r o s s ) s c r e w driver to remove the screw that secures the slot metal cover. 4. Remove the slot metal cover, then set it aside. 2-14 Chapter 2: Hardware setup

2.6.1 Installing an expansion card to the riser card bracket
The barebone server comes with a riser card bracket. You need to remove
the bracket if you want to install PCI Express x16 expansion cards.
To install the PCI Express x16 expansion cards:
1. Firmly hold the riser card bracket,
then pull it up to detach it from
the PCI Express x16 slot on the
motherboard.
2. Place the riser card bracket on
a flat and stable surface, then
remove the screw from the slot
bay.
3. Use a Phillips (cross) screw
driver to remove the screw that
secures the slot metal cover.
4. Remove the
slot metal cover,
then set it aside.
