6 Loading the Silverware Basket Use suggested loading plan for best results. NOTE: The silverware basket tops can be folded up to accommodate large or oddly-shaped items. With the silverware basket tops down, load the silverware basket following the patterns suggested below. The Flexible Silverware Basket Place knives and sharp utensils with their handles up, and forks and spoons with their handles down. If large or oddly-shaped items are to be loaded into the silverware basket with the tops up, load the items so that they do not nest together.
