• Your unit has been carefully adjusted to meet most conditions. However, the below adjustment may be needed depending on your environment (humidity, temperature, etc.) and the documents you are scanning (checks, etc.). Perform the adjustment only if necessary. • Scanning the following types of documents may cause a paper jam or malfunction. To scan these types of documents, make a photocopy of the document and then scan the photocopy. Wrinkled or creased documents Curled documents Torn documents Documents with paper clips or staples Carbon paper Coated paper Extremely thin, translucent paper Documents with raggedly torn perforations Placing Documents This section describes how to place a document for scanning. 1 Pull out the document feed tray. Note • When scanning multiple documents, sort them into batches of uniform paper quality and thickness and load each batch separately. Note that loading mixed batches may cause paper jams. • Load a maximum of 50 sheets or a document stack no higher than 0.2" (5 mm) at a time. • When scanning relatively thick (0.005" to 0.008" {0.15 mm to 0.2 mm}) documents, the feeding process may cause the document to curl and cause paper jams at the document feed opening.
