3. Clean the black and white surfaces of the rollers by wiping horizontally with a moistened, wrung-out cloth. IMPORTANT When cleaning, be careful not to bend the sheet over the roller. The location of the sheet for the lower platen roller is in front of the roller. Sheet (avoid bending) Chapter 5 Maintenance Cleaning the Pickup and Feed Rollers Use the following procedure to remove and reinstall the pickup and feed rollers during cleaning or replacement. CAUTION Do not use excessive force when removing or reinstalling the rollers. Doing so may damage the rollers, resulting in feed errors. ■ Removing and Cleaning the Pickup and Feed Rollers 1. Carefully raise the upper unit until it stops. 2. Lift the roller cover and pull out and downwards. 4. Use a soft object such as a cotton swab to remove any dust adhering to the brushes, and any dust that may have fallen from them. IMPORTANT Be careful not to bend the brush bristles when cleaning. If the bristles are bent, their cleaning ability is degraded. 5. Carefully lower the upper unit (a). Press down on both sides of the upper unit to ensure that it is securely closed. (b) IMPORTANT When opening and closing the roller cover, be careful not to touch the glass (staple detection window). If the glass gets dirty, staple detection accuracy is degraded. 5-7

IMPORTANT
When cleaning, be careful not to bend the sheet over the roller.
The location of the sheet for the lower platen roller is in front of
the roller.

Use a soft object such as a cotton swab to remove
any dust adhering to the brushes, and any dust that
may have fallen from them.
IMPORTANT
Be careful not to bend the brush bristles when cleaning. If the
bristles are bent, their cleaning ability is degraded.
