3 File Numbering Methods The file number is like the frame number on film. There are two file numbering methods: [Continuous] and [Auto reset]. The images you take are automatically assigned a file number from 0001 to 9999 and saved in a folder (created automatically) that can hold up to 100 images. 1 Select [File numbering]. ¡ Turn the dial to select [c File numbering], then press . 2 Select the file numbering method. ¡ Turn the dial to select [Continuous] or [Auto reset], then press . Continuous The file numbering continues in sequence even after you replace the CF card. This prevents images from having the same file number, so image management with a personal computer is easier. Auto reset Each time you replace the CF card, the file numbering will be reset to the first file number (XXX-0001). Since the file number starts from 0001 in each CF card, you can organize images according to CF card. Then if file No. 9999 is created, "Err CF" will be displayed on the LCD panel and in the viewfinder. Replace the CF card with a new one. For both JPEG and RAW images, the file name will start with "IMG_". The file name extension will be ".JPG" for JPEG images and ".CR2" for RAW images. 61
