Document Handling 3 CHAPTER This chapter describes the types of documents you can scan or copy with this machine and how to set them on the platen glass. Document Requirements The documents you place on the platen glass for copying or scanning must meet these requirements: Type of Document Size (W x L) Quantity Weight Platen Glass Plain paper Thick documents Photographs Small documents (e.g., index cards) Special types of paper (e.g., tracing paper*, transparencies*, etc.) Book Max. 8 1/2" × 11 3/4" (216 mm × 297 mm) 1 sheet Max. 4.4 lb (2 kg) * When scanning, and copying a transparent document such as tracing paper or transparencies, place a piece of plain white paper behind the document. NOTE • When making copies of a small size document, the copy speed may be slightly slower than usual. • Make sure any glue, ink, or correction fluid on the document is completely dry before placing it on the platen glass.
