Shooting-Advanced Functions Switching between Metering Modes Mode Dial Light metering measures the brightness of a subject. By selecting the optimal mode, you can shoot a subject with the optimal exposure. Evaluative metering is the default metering mode. Evaluative The camera divides images into several zones for light metering. The camera evaluates complex lighting conditions, such as the position of the subject, the brightness, the background, the direct light, and the backlighting, and adjusts the settings to the correct 6 exposure for the main subject. Center-Weighted Averages the light metered from the entire frame, but gives greater Average weight to the subject matter at the center. Spot AE Point Meters the area within the spot AE point frame. Center Locks the spot metering frame to the center of the LCD monitor. Switching between Metering Modes
Light metering measures the brightness of a subject. By selecting the
optimal mode, you can shoot a subject with the optimal exposure.
Evaluative metering is the default metering mode.

Press the
button to select a metering mode.
Each press of the
button changes the metering mode as follows.
The icon of the currently selected light metering mode appears on the
LCD monitor (or viewfinder).
