Configuring Monitor Screen Settings Turning Display Information On and Off (Info) Each press of [8] (DISP) will cycle through display settings that display or hide onscreen information and the control panel. You can configure separate settings for the REC mode and PLAY mode. Information on, control panel on Information on, control panel on, histogram on Information off, control panel off Displays setting information and the control panel. Displays setting information and the control panel, and a histogram (page 153) on the left side of the display. Also displays the remaining movie recording time in place of the remaining snapshot capacity, as well as a movie image quality icon. Histogram Hides setting information and the control panel. • The control panel is not displayed and display information settings cannot be changed during movie recording. Using the On-screen Histogram to Check Exposure (+Histogram) Displays a histogram on the monitor screen which you can use to check the exposure of an image before you shoot it. You also can display the histogram in the PLAY mode for information about the exposure levels of images. Histogram NOTE • A centered histogram does not necessarily guarantee optimum exposure. The recorded image may be over-exposed or under-exposed, even though its histogram is centered. • Due to the limitations of exposure compensation, you may not be able to achieve an optimum histogram configuration. • Use of the flash and certain shooting conditions can cause the histogram to indicate exposure that is different from the actual exposure of the image when it is shot. • The histogram cannot be displayed during high speed movie recording. 153 Configuring Monitor Screen Settings
