4.7.2 Removing an External 5.25-Inch Drive from Right Drive Bay 1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Section 4.2). WARNING: Power is continuous to the system board and power supply even when the power switch is turned off. To prevent damage to the unit, disconnect the power cord from the power source or the unit before beginning disassembly procedures. 2. Remove the computer cover (Section 4.3). 3. Disconnect the drive power cable, signal cable, and audio connector, if applicable. 4. Remove the screw from the right side of the drive 1. 5. Pull the drive out of the bay 2. To install a 5.25-inch drive into the right drive bay, reverse the above procedure. ✎ It may be necessary to remove a bezel blank (Section 4.5). ✎ When replacing the drive, use the existing screws. Metric screws (M3) have a black finish while U.S. screws (#6-32) have a silver finish. CAUTION: When servicing the computer, ensure that cables are placed in their proper locations during the reassembly process. Improper cable placement can damage the computer. Removing an External 5.25-Inch Drive from Right Drive Bay

switch is turned off. To prevent damage to the unit, disconnect the power cord from the power
source or the unit before beginning disassembly procedures.

Remove the computer cover (Section 4.3).

Disconnect the drive power cable, signal cable, and audio connector, if applicable.

Remove the screw from the right side of the drive

Pull the drive out of the bay

To install a 5.25-inch drive into the right drive bay, reverse the above procedure.
