In general, you should change the water filter every 6 months to ensure the highest possible water quality. Water Filter Status on the appliance control display prompts you to replace the filter after a standard amount of water (125 gal/453 L for PureAdvantage™) has flowed through the system. If you have not used your refrigerator for a period of time (during moving for example), change the filter before reinstalling the refrigerator. When you order your replacement filter, please reorder the same filter type currently in your refrigerator. More about your Advanced Water Filter The PureAdvantage™ ice and water filter system is tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, 401 and CSA B483.1 for the reduction of claims specified on the performance data sheet. Be ready to wipe up any small amounts of water released during the filter replacement. 1. Remove the filter by firmly pressing the water filter cartridge until it releases. You will hear a click. 2. Slide the old water filter cartridge straight out of the housing and discard it. 3. Unpackage the new filter cartridge. Using the alignment guide, slide it gently into the filter housing until it stops against the snap-in connector at the back of the housing.
