Maintenance Messages The EPL-6000's display lets you know when you need to perform routine maintenance procedures. The toner cartridge and drum unit must be replaced on a regular basis. The messages described below tell you when to perform these tasks. It is recommended that you keep in stock at least one drum unit and several replacement toner cartridges. See Appendix B for storage information. Toner empty message The initial toner cartridge, which is shipped with your printer, lasts about 750 pages. Replacement toner cartridges last about 1,500 pages. These page amounts are based on letter or A4-size pages with normal text printing (5 percent print density). If you print higher density graphics or use larger paper, the number of pages per cartridge may decrease. The number of pages can also vary if you change the print density control setting (described in Chapter 2). The TONER EMPTY message indicates that you need to do the following: l Replace the toner cartridge l Replace the cleaning pad, which is packed with your replacement toner cartridge l Perform certain routine cleaning procedures, which take only a few moments. (Since cleaning your printer requires you to turn off the power, you may want to finish your print job before cleaning the printer.) Maintenance Messages
The EPL-6000’s display lets you know when you

routine maintenance procedures. The toner cartridge and drum unit
must be replaced on
a
regular basis. The messages described below
tell you when to perform these tasks.
