Replacing the keyboard 14 Slide the beige keyboard connector clip to the back of your notebook, then slide the cable out of the clip. Be careful not to touch or damage any other components. 2 17 Insert the tabs on the front edge of the keyboard into the slots under the palm rest. You may need to press down on the keyboard keys along the front edge of the keyboard to seat the retaining tabs into their corresponding slots. Clip 15 Place the new keyboard keys-down onto the palm rest with the space bar away from you. 16 Make sure the beige keyboard connector clip is fully moved toward the back of your notebook, insert the cable into the connector, then slide the beige clip to lock the connector in place. Important The keyboard cable is correctly oriented if it is not twisted. 18 Gently press the keyboard down until it is flat all the way across. The keyboard should easily fall into place. Be careful to not damage the LCD panel. 19 Replace the screws removed in Step 12. 20 Replace the keyboard cover by first inserting the tabs located on the front of the cover, then pressing down on the back. Press down on the cover in several places until it clicks in place. The cover is correctly mounted when you can run you finger along the cover and find no loose spots. The cover should be flat all the way across. Caution If the cover is not correctly replaced, your notebook could be damaged when you try to close the LCD panel. 21 Press down on both hinge covers to make sure they are firmly seated. 22 Close the LCD panel. 23 Turn your notebook over so the bottom is facing up. 24 Replace the screws removed in Step 7. 25 Insert the battery, then turn your notebook over. 26 Connect the power adapter, modem cable, and network cable 27 Reconnect all peripheral devices and replace any Express cards. Slide the beige keyboard connector clip to the back of your

Place the new keyboard
keys-down

Replace the keyboard cover by first inserting the tabs located on
the front of the cover, then pressing down on the back. Press
down on the cover in several places until it clicks in place. The
cover is correctly mounted when you can run you finger along
the cover and find no loose spots. The cover should be flat all
the way across.

Press down on both hinge covers to make sure they are firmly

Close the LCD panel.

Turn your notebook over so the bottom is facing up.

Insert the battery, then turn your notebook over.

Connect the power adapter, modem cable, and network cable

Reconnect all peripheral devices and replace any Express cards.
Important
The keyboard cable is correctly oriented if it is not twisted.

If the cover is not correctly replaced, your notebook could be
damaged when you try to close the LCD panel.
