The "mode" switch on your amplifier or receiver must be used for correct playback control of these formats. 2. STEREO/MATRIX will pass all signals through the 44 + in their basic two-channel form. Presence of a CD-4 carrier will not activate the demodulation circuitry or the LED indicator. Again, your "mode" switch must be used to control the playback format. 3. BYPASS directs the signal from your turntable or record changer immediately into the normal phono inputs of your amplifier or receiver, without processing by the 44 + . The result is the same as having your turntable connected directly to your amplifier or receiver, thus allowing playback of stereo or matrix discs without activating the 44+. A fuse is provided on the back panel to protect the 44+ from unusual fluctuations in current drawn through the AC line. If this fuse ever needs replace. ment, use only a fuse of the same value-never one larger. Use of a fuse with greater current capacity will expose the 44 + to severe electrical damage and may otherwise be dangerous. Removing the top cover of the 44 while it is connected to an AC receptacle exposes you to a severe shock hazard. There are no parts inside the 44 + that you can adjust to improve or alter its performance. Do not handle an open 44 + while it is connected to AC power. AN
