USB board Description USB board Part of Spare Cable kit Spare part number 683477-001 Before removing the USB board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 34). 5. Remove the following components: a. Bottom door (see Bottom door on page 35). b. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 39). c. Metal heat shield (see Metal heat shield on page 48). d. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 44) e. Top cover (see Top cover on page 55). Remove the USB board: 1. Position the computer upright with the front toward you. 2. Disconnect the USB board cable from the system board (1) and remove the cable (2) from the cable run. 3. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screw (3) that secures the USB board to the computer. 66 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the USB board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn

2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet,
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

5.
Remove the following components:
a.

e.

Remove the USB board:
1.
Position the computer upright with the front toward you.
2.
Disconnect the USB board cable from the system board
(1)
and remove the cable
(2)
from the
cable run.
3.
Remove the Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screw
(3)
that secures the USB board to the computer.
