Enhancements This section summarizes Fabric Manager 5.3.0a enhancements. New operating system support No new operating system support was added with Fabric Manager 5.3.0a. New features introduced in Fabric Manager 5.3.0a Fabric Manager 5.3.0a includes the following new features: • Fault Management―Fabric Manager will act as a syslog listener to receive, process, store, and help analyze events from subscribed switches in the SAN, and to aid with quick problem identification and resolution. • Performance Management Enhancements―A new feature to support real-time performance monitoring (for performance statistics and error counters) for a selected number of ports, and an enhancement to the historical performance management feature to add support for error counters. • Configuration Management Enhancements―An enhancement to the existing Configuration Management feature to support automatic backup of configuration files from managed switches, either on a periodic basis or on demand. And the ability to quickly restore a stored configuration to a switch. • Long Distance (FCIP) Connectivity Management―Fabric Manager includes new FCIP features including a wizard-driven approach to help easily setup FCIP tunnels, visualization of the tunnels and associated properties in the topology, and the ability to modify, delete, or disable existing FCIP tunnels. • Meta SAN views―A new feature to support Meta SAN visualization in the topology including specific backbone fabrics of interest and the LSAN zones within them, display of virtual device nodes within the scope of specified LSAN zones, and visualization of Inter Fabric Links (IFLs). Fabric Manager also provides the ability to easily perform Meta SAN management operations such as device sharing, FCR configuration, and device diagnostics. • Usability enhancements―Includes several usability enhancements to provide a more seamless look-and-feel across the different GUI screens, and also addresses specific usability improvements based on customer feedback on the previous release.
