• IPv6 support―Support for IPv6 based addressing in all relevant areas of the GUI, and IPv6 support for Fabric Manager client server and server switch communication. • Reports―In addition to the performance reports (discussed above), two new reports - Fabric Summary report and Physical Inventory report - are added, along with an option to export them to PDF & HTML formats. • Secure Communication―Reduced number of open firewall ports for communication between the Fabric Manager client and server. • Fabric OS 5.3 Features―Support for Fabric Configuration Server (FCS) policies, a new feature in Fabric OS 5.3, including the ability to enforce that the seed switch used at the time of discovery is the primary FCS switch. Installation Installing and upgrading from a previous Fabric Manager version You can upgrade to Fabric Manager 5.3.0a only from versions 5.1.x, 5.2.x or 5.3.0; all configuration data is migrated to 5.3.0a. Upgrading Fabric Manager from 5.1.x or 5.2.x to 5.3.0 does not require a new Fabric Manager license. CAUTION: When you install Fabric Manager on a Linux system from CD disk 2, the installer may exit abruptly. Restart the installer to complete the installation successfully. NOTE: HP recommends taking a backup of the database before starting the upgrade through the Server Management Console. If the upgrade fails, re-run the installer to install the older version of Fabric Manager. To do this, stop the Fabric Manager services, restore the backed-up database, start the services, and then try the upgrade operation again. Installing Fabric Manager on Windows (server) 1.
