Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power cord. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 35). Remove the hard drive: 1. Position the computer with the front toward you. 2. Loosen the two Phillips PM2.0×5.0 captive screws (1) that secure the hard drive cover to the computer. 3. Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1.

Remove the hard drive:
1.
Position the computer with the front toward you.
2.
Loosen the two Phillips PM2.0×5.0 captive screws
(1)
that secure the hard drive cover to
the computer.
3.
Lift the left side of the hard drive cover
(2)
and swing it to right.
