Expansion-slot bracket Adapter Adapter support bracket PCI-X expansion slot 1 Riser-card assembly Expansion slot 2 Riser-card connectors To install an adapter, complete the following steps: 1. Read the safety information that begins on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page 7. 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cord and all external cables. Remove the cover. 3. If the adapter is a ServeRAID 8i controller, complete the following steps to install the low-profile expansion-slot bracket on the adapter: a. Unscrew the two screws that hold the large expansion-slot bracket on the adapter. b. Remove the large bracket. c. Install the low-profile (small) expansion-slot bracket in the same position on the adapter. d. Reinstall the two screws that you removed in step 3a. 4. Grasp the riser card at the rear edge and lift to remove the riser-card assembly. install
an
adapter,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Read
the

Turn
off
the
server

devices,
and

the

cables.
Remove
the
cover.
3.
If
the
adapter
is
a
ServeRAID
8i
controller,
complete
the
following
steps
to
install
the
low-profile
expansion-slot
bracket
on
the
adapter:
a.
Unscrew
the
two
screws
that
hold
the
large
expansion-slot
bracket
on
the
adapter.
b.
Remove
the
large
bracket.
c.
Install
the
low-profile
(small)
expansion-slot
bracket
in
the
same
position
on
the
adapter.
d.
Reinstall
the
two
screws
that
you
removed
in
step
3a.
4.
Grasp
the
riser
card
at
the
rear
edge
and
lift
to
remove
the
riser-card
assembly.
Place
the
riser-card
assembly
on
a
flat,
static-protective
surface.
