CE Utility Program Diskette Writing the Serialization Information The EEPROM on the system board contains the Serialization Information Data- that is, a system board serial number and a system unit serial number. When you replace the system board, restore the Serialization Information Data using the ThinkPad CE Utility Diskette. The serial number label is attached to the computer. Writing the UUID The EEPROM on the system board contains the Universal Unique ID (UUID)- that is, for Microsoft or Internet use. When you replace the system board, restore the new UUID using the ThinkPad CE Utility Diskette. The ThinkPad Utility will automatically generate and assign the new UUID. Running the Diagnostics Use either the TrackPoint or the cursor move keys to interact with the tests. 1. Connect the external floppy disk drive to the computer. 2. Insert the PC-Doctor startup disk into the diskette drive. 3. Power-on the computer. 4. At the main menu, select the test to run. 5. Press Enter to run the test selected. 6. After starting a test, do not press any key until prompted, then follow the instructions on the screen. 7. When the test is completed, press Esc to return to the main menu. 8. Writing the Serialization Information
