A Turning the Monitor Off To clear shooting information from the monitor, press the R button or press the shutter-release button halfway. The monitor will turn off automatically if no operations are performed for about 8 seconds (for information on choosing how long the monitor stays on, see Auto off timers on page 240). The monitor will also turn off if you cover the eye sensor or look through the viewfinder. A Info Display Auto Off The eye sensor will automatically turn the information display off if you put your eye to the viewfinder while the standby timer is active. The display will turn on again when you remove your eye from the viewfinder. If desired, you can prevent the information display turning off using the Info display auto off option (0 265) in the setup menu. Note, however, that regardless of the option selected the information display will turn off when the standby timer expires. 8 Introduction
